This is a group for those that want to stay connected with Sahib Aquaponics. Sahib's goal is to be at the forefront of sustainable urban gardening by adopting the latest Aquaponics technologies and growing methods to provide both high quality food and fish, competitively priced, grown locally and grown naturally. Sahib combines the various methods of growing using Aquaponics and the resulting Hybrid systems he creates ensures that there is optimal use of the rich effluent fish water. He recognizes that it is crucial to make use of as much of the solids as possible to grow the maximum possible food in the most economic way and in the least amount of space - which is always at a premium in urban areas.
Sahib's Aquaponics Research Farm uses a hybrid Aquaponics system with deep-water raft culture, media bed, various vertical towers, NFT and recirculating wicking beds. He also combines it all with plants in the ground and waters them with AP water. Complicated yet Sahib explains it all in lay man's terms

Comment by Sahib Punjabi on May 4, 2012 at 4:16pm A brief walk in Phase 1 of Sahib Aquaponics Research Farm showing some of the recent updates we have undertaken since our last video. Our Hybrid Aquaponics systems provide us with so much produce from the "tiny" wasteland plot that we want to share such information so as to empower everyone to be able to grow their own food locally, naturally and without and harmful pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Comment by Sahib Punjabi on April 21, 2012 at 5:14pm Thank you John,
The media selection depends upon how you configure the mini vert towers...you can use dense filter material, rocks, Hydroton, expanded shale, horticubes, coir, wood chips or similar mixture 9add some worm castings or worms), if bottom is closed. Experiment with what you have locally available.
God bless

A Good Fit for Small Spaces
In suburban Orlando, Florida, farmer Sahib Punjabi has developed several models of miniature re-circulating farms to fit in small, underused spaces, such as storage rooms and patios. In only 18 square feet, Punjabi’s “Zero Lot” Backyard Aquaponic System combines a variety of plant beds with a 55-gallon fish tank.
He aims to build a totally self-sufficient system that can be deployed anywhere, from developing-world villages to U.S. neighborhoods.

I love the idea of having food grown in empty parking lots. Creative genius! LOL
