Wow- the Grow Bed is literally jumping into gear! About a week after adding fish.
Just had a spike in Ammonia- the extra Nitrogen inspired an overnight burst of plant growth!
Happy to report no deaths of fish or plants.

Nearly 2-inch fingerlings arrived on the 24th and they were hungry! They kept striking at my hand on the outside of the bag- not stressed at all- I really didn't expect them to be so active. I fed them a little and waited a couple of hours to acclimate them before freeing them to the tank. My system is complete now- very cool.
Tom Barnhardt said… Connie was wondering how long your system took before it got cycled in using the pond water? Also how much did you use? I have a friend who wants to pump from his pond direct to a grow bed then have it flush back to the pond. I do not see why this would not work but let me know what you think. Thanks again for the post.
Derald Howell said… Hi Connie,
I am glad to have someone in the business close by. I am actually starting my greenhouse late Feb in Golden Gate. Would have started earlier, but still have not sold my condo in the last year and the condo commando"s don't like the idea of a greenhouse on the lake. Go figure ! Anyway, I grew in a farming family in Naples, Immokalee and Indiantown, so have done my fair share of farming and gardening coventional style. So this is something I can really sink my teeth into. Looking forward to meeting you and hope to learn something new from you.
