Wicking bed growers

This group is dedicated to those who are interested and growing in wicking beds. Wicking beds in conjunction with aquaponics can enable us to grow just about every crop that cannot be grown in standard aquaponics. Lets discuss deign, operation and whatever aspect of wicking bed growing you can think of.See More

Damon, what was your experience like at Friendly, I was going to go and excited to move, now I hear all negatives and to run away? Input?

We've been adding on to the systems continuously since you were here. We now have well over 1000 sqft of grow space between the rafts, media, nft, and towers. We now sell all our produce out of a small fridge in the front of the property as an honor farm fridge. We have found our niche as a strictly neighborhood farm. What have you been up to since leaving the Big Island?

Yeah, I understand.  Still, even if they're hurting for money, they're gonna try for as long as possible to take advantage of others through their "internship", in their attempt to fix their money problems, I'm sure.   Sad that that has to happen.   I just thought if someone (even if it isn't feesible for you) was persuing legal measures against them that maybe they could somehow be better regulated or taken out of the business so that they don't continue to put a bad flavor for aquaponics into people's mouth.

I'm always using Google to find out about people,  Google  the people you trust with money and time, ask other people about the experience with this person. The internet is a very good tool to avoid a bad experience if you Google the right questions.  Most videos and  forums will NEVER show you then truth, its always about money and power. Watch out and good luck to you !

Hi Damon. Welcome!  Truly sorry to hear about your negative experiences with Friendly's.  Your post made me wonder if you and/or any of the others have taken any legal action for the lack of pay (illegal in and of itself)?   People like that should be stopped at all costs, and unfortunately, legal proceedings are sometimes the only way to do it.   I sure would hate to see more people get caught up in the scam, and possibly tarnish the view of aquaponics for those caught in it, as well as set a bad example for the community at large.   Just wondered.   I'm new here too, and still trying to figure my way around.   I would have sent this as a private message, only I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
