"Christian, I think the real question is, what is your objective.  If it is raising tilapia, I think the pools should work well.  If your goal is aquaponics farming, I don't think that large a pools would be practical."

Hi Dave,  we have added on 1000 additional square feet of trough space and more importantly, we are revising our system!  We have decided to change our DWC type system into what we are calling our hybridized design that integrates media beds into our existing raft system.  Lots of exciting stuff going on!  How is your system doing?

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the community.

You'll find very useful information in the FORUMS.  To try and point you in the right direction, (regarding your question), you may want to join the Tilapia Breeders group of our community.

Here is the link.  Hope that helps.

Tanks to all.  Now for my big question.  At what age can I expect my tilapia to start reproducing.  I am about ready to start feeding them viagra.

Welcome Dave,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.
A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.

Please participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Sylvia
