Hey, in answer to your quesitons: Yes, I use a UW AES greenhouse for my research.  My product patents are owned and prosecuted by the University.  I just license them back.  I currently have one intern through the university, and will get another through the business pretty soon.  No, unfortunately there's not much aquaponics integrated into the curriculum currently.  I'm  working on greenhouse management software with a twist- but I want to work on it a bit before I start broadcasting what I'm doing.  I've got to keep the suspense alive!  The greatest challenge has been funding, primarily and finding the resources to make it happen.  My systems are scrapped together, and I've always had to really root around to find the funds to make it happen.  Maybe it's a good thing though, because it's taught me to be pretty thrifty in regards to system design and maintenance.

Hi Elyse,

I left you a message on the college AP research thread.  I'm doing research here at University of Wyoming using two 2000 gallon commercial systems using vertical towers.  We are doing market research so we are actively producing and selling.  We're also involved with a number of developing producers in the area that have large systems.  We do AP production, marketing, labor reduction research, sustainability research, and software development.

Hey Elyse- Saw your post about the road trip- I'm a high school teacher in chicago who just has a little system running in my room, but would love to meet up with you if you go to growing power- i've been meaning to make a mini trip myself- if you are looking for company, love to hear from you-

best, robin

We are operating out of a 400-450 gallon/min spring.  We have about 20000 gallons in our system not including the pond.  We are just underway in the marketing department.  Lucky for us we have a little funding so selling our product will be extra funding, but it won't put us under if we don't find a home for it for a while.  After I mention that we are just south of you I mapped it and it seems that its more like 5ish hours south.  We are an WVU farm and I work under the extension program.  If you want to swing by any day in the future let me know and I will give you the grand tour personally.

We are just south of you.  While we are not in the midwest, the system we are trying to design would benefit the trout growers of your state as well.  I can give tours whenever there is a need for them.  This is an open invite to you and all.
