Jay Wolf replied to Tom OBrien's discussion Do you add cover like rocks or PVC tubes to the fish tank? in the group Trout Growers
"Not really.  I have grown lake trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout.  None of these fish needed cover.  Obviously when the lights clicked on, they spooked.  So we didn't have the tanks full to the top. Jay"

Thanks Jay for your gracious offer! I would love the chance to pick your brain regarding your experiences raising Yellow Perch and tell you about our venture. Would talking on the phone be easier? I would be willing to call you or I can give you my cell number. Please let me know but I do not want to impose on your time. I am anxious to talk to you either way..phone or messages.

Nothing much on this end. Red Claws are berried and about to drop their babies. That's about it here.

Most of them made it, i had 15 die here at work,  then i saw a few on the bottom this morning.  I scooped out 5.  Maybe they will survive,  they did seem to like their new home.  I put 50 in system 2, and 40 in system 1.   If the bigger cats dont eat them they will be fine.   Boy was i starting to get scared.. I dont wanna kill 100 fish

No Cairo trips here, Jay.  I think James Godsil from Sweetwater is planning something and he has looped me in on some communication about it...maybe that is what you heard.  Would be cool, thought!

Would love to visit one day.  Right now, I'm just trying to keep everything vaguely on track, and still looking for some permanent employment somewhere as I think it will still be a while before aquaponics sustains me here.  All the best for your venture and keep us posted about how things are going.

Yes, unfortunately a feasibility study (which can be pricey) is needed to determine if the building can withstand the extra loading. Not all school buildings will pass the test, but so far all the schools we have been working with have been approved! Good luck with your research. Howard Resh has an excellent book on Hydroponics if you need further information.
