Cool designs...  is that a freezer for the cooling element.  I have found that if you get to complex in aquaponics that the economics get out of whack for you.  It would be good if you talked about what you want to grow and the fish…

Carey Like it, the price point is very affordable.  I would guess that the bigger issue is the connection and how much cost is involved with that phase of the install.  Any details on the install and how it works?

Build in some tank insurance for yourself.  In my 100 gal system, I have only a 15 gallon sump.  The tank insurance I use is a 4" drain pipe that is sealed around a 2 " shorter drain pipe inside the 4" one. I will see if I…

Hi Rick,

There are several operations on Maui: Kai Manu, Waikinalani, Maui Aquaponics (which we haven't heard from yet), and more.  I seem to be the newest of the bunch.  Still having trouble trying to get my nitrogen cycle to kick in.  Please feel free to post a comment on our group when you visit Maui next, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of invitations, including mine.  Kai Manu seems to be the most established on Maui, where Nick Oosterveen is using aquaponics as part of a much larger sustainable living program.  See www.nikodesignsinc.com

Hi Rik,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community - we love to see experienced members! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking, and answering, questions. I'd also love to see some photos/ videos of your system if you are willing to post them.

We have just a few simple rules: stay on the subject of aquaponics and keep it cordial (no flaming!). If someone decides to break these rules they will get a warning, and then be banned from the community after that. But of course I’m hoping that never happens!

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Sylvia
