My biggest issue is that I will be gone for vacation for 3 weeks and I can not trust that those left at home will take care of a garden or anything else for that matter.
So if I can set up somehting from the beginning that is mostly self contained and only may need to be checked on, I will be better off.
Anyone out there have a set up like this already?

Well I can say this is my first day as part of the Aquaponic Gardening Community.
I have been doing research in preparing for spring and setting myself up.
I hope to gain a lot of good information and share everything I can to help others.
Thanks in advance for everything.
John Wroten said… Hey welcome Sherman. It is nice to see someone else from Ky. I just looked up Bloomfield on the map, and I guess I drove past your city yesterday. I went up to Lexington to pick up a couple of IBC totes.
I thought I was getting my feet wet with aquaponics, but now I think I am drowning. I have 20 tilopia in a 60 gal aquarium, and I have 2 males that are digging their nest, but they are running everyone away. I have no females as large as they are, but I am hopeful. I'm getting more tanks ready for (hopefully) the babies and for spring.
Give me a shout, and again, welcome....John

Sylvia Bernstein said… Welcome Sherman,
Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions. Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.
A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page. You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
Please add a profile image, participate and check in with us every day! We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.
Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.
Sylvia
