Profile Information

How did you find us?
A link from another AP site, I believe in another AP forum.
Are you an aquaponic gardener already?
No
If so, what type of system? (pick all that apply)
We have collected some food grade IBC's, pool pumps, misc. electrical and plumbing supplies.... and most recently bought a 30' x 96' greenhouse with all the goodies!
Please tell us something else about yourself.
Our large family hopes to build a sustainable farm business while teaching others how to do the same. Ideally we will be able to work with local schools, colleges or whoever else would like to know more about AP, Organic "type" farming, Animal husbandry, etc. We live live on 25 acres and currently raise chickens for eggs and meat, goats for milk, horses for manure, a few beef steer a year, turkeys & ducks.

Thanks for your support. I see you get cold winters too. Is that pond on your property? Nice drawings and greenhouse. That's a production system! BTW. What program did you use?

Hello Two Jay,

I am in GR and am working on my 1st AP setup. Its a smaller setup with a hoophouse holding a dozen media beds and 2 raceways with 8 rafts for lettuce and things. Nice to meet you and see there are others up here in MI doing Aquaponics. Keep me posted on how you are doing-David

Cool, I wouldn't have put the 2 together. Your system sounds ideal. We are pretty much in the same spot. We are working out the bugs in our system and using Koi and goldfish. We hope to have our larger up and running with an experimental hybrid version of growing power bunk beds.

Hay there and Welcome James. Sylvia, the network creator is out of contact for a bit but I'm sure she will welcome you herself when she gets back. In the mean time here is what she usually tells new members.

"Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions. Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

A great place to start is by checking out the forums, blogs and groups. If you are interested in a forum or blog topic, but don’t want to join in right away, just check the “follow” box to be notified whenever there is activity on that subject.

Here is a quick video that will guide you through some of the unique attributes of our Ning community http://creators.ning.com/video/getting-started. Please participate!

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Sylvia"
